Urban Psalm II

I’m realizing more and more that I’m inadequate man,
And capable on my own of just inadequate plans.
I understand my limitations, just an average man,
But one called and chosen by the Father of man.
The fact remains that nothing produced by my own two hands
Can hold a candle to the deeds of Him who eternally stands.
So when I trust in my own strength and sink like built on quicksand,
I know my God hears my cry and He will come heal my land.
Man, my humanity is tricky, Peter said I’m a pilgrim
Apart from Christ, my life is rife with sin, my light is real dim,
But when I look off in the horizon and the cross beckons me,
I feel the power of Christ enhancing plain ole, average me.
So while I’m still no superman, I’m feeing just super man
For greater is He who’s within than any outside, man.
And by His blood I’m washed white, when once I wore pure red,
Now I’m reppin for my God,
The One who sits at the head.

Breaking New Ground: Do You Shut the Door on Your Flesh?

We all have issues that we struggle with. We all have at least one thing that we struggle with, but struggles are a good sign. It means that our spirit is battling with the thing that God wants to get out of our lives. God has already revealed his direction or my life, so when there is struggle, it is god bringing alignment back to our lives. The danger is in saying that we don’t have a struggle. We should have struggles!!!

What better place to admit our struggles than in church. Too many times we try to act like we are super Christians. We always have things that will need to be aligned. If we aren’t careful, our flesh will rule us.

Have you ever rebuke the devil and he didn’t flee? In that case, is it the devil or my flesh? The word says that if we rebuke the devil, he must flee. So if we still struggle, it’s our flesh. By managing our flesh, we can have the abundant life.

My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, so we are to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice. It’s hard. But it is also what is required of us.

Gal 5:16-18- I say then, walk in the spirit and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Of the flesh lusts against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh. And these things are so tarry to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish….

Your flesh and spirit hate each other! They are completely unaligned.

Gal 5:19-21- when you follow the desire of your flesh, the results are very clear; sexual immorality, impurity, lustful, pleasure, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again…..anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Verse 19- sexual sins
Verse 20-21 sins of rebellion

Notice that it didn’t say that the people who struggle with this will not make it to heaven. It just means that when we let our flesh rule us, it takes us out of Gods will. We can’t be blessed when we allow our flesh to rule our lives like this. Quit blaming it on a demon and take personal accountability.

Eph 4:1- therefore I….beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God!

Fight your flesh! Live a life worthy of God’s kingdom. Act like it. Speak like it. Serve like it.

Spirit- already redeemed
Soul- being renewed as my mind is renewed
Body- not redeemed until Christ returns

Rom 13:14- put on The Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lust.

Breaking New Ground: Managing Our Flesh

our flesh is disobedient and difficult to manage. In order to break new ground, we need to manage our flesh. Many times,it’s not a spirit that has come upon us, its just our flesh that needs to come under subjection to Christ.

We must learn to manage our flesh. Our bodies and minds must be controlled by Christ.
Quit blaming everything on evil spirits.

1. Cor. 2:9-11- ….but it was to us that God revealed these things by His Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except His own Spirit.

When we tap into His Spirit, He reveals things about us to us; unknown things.

1. God sees things in 3-D. God sees our lives in height, width, and depth. He can see far into the future of our lives. It’s is why God doesn’t panic during our crises. He sees us coming through our trials and knows that we will be alright.

When He said on the cross that it is finished, He meant EVERYTHNG!!!

The spirit in you has already seen your future and bears witness with the Holy Spirit.

1 Cor 2:12- we have received Gods spirit,so that we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us

1 John 2:20- but you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.

Our spirit already knows everything God wants to do in our lives, but its our mind that struggles with it. Sometime we can’t connect with God because our hearts and minds don’t believe it. It doesn’t resonate.

Don’t be like the Beverly hillbillies. They were rich but still lived like they were poor. We can’t our minds to dictate who we are. Our identities should be based on what God has said.

1 Cor 2:13- when we tell you these words, we do not use words that come of from human wisdom…..instead, we speak words given to us from the Spirit, using truths from the Spirit.

Sometimes you will have to speak what the Spirit knows is real, even when nobody else believes it. People will often see us as we were, and not as who God created us to be. Speak it out loud! Release your faith! Carnal minded people will never understand the vision.

Our spirit wants to rejoice now for what he sees is ahead. As you speak out your destiny, it forces your mind and flesh to buy in.

1 Cor 2:14- but people who aren’t spiritual cannot receive these truths…..for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.

A carnally minded person is one who is not spirit lead.

Why must I speak out my destiny?
1. My destiny only recognizes my voice!-I have authority to speak to my destiny and it recognizes my voice. It takes root in our lives when we speak out over our flesh what God has confirmed in our spirits. My flesh will only obey what my mouth speaks.
2. My dream is voice activated. -they don’t start until they hear my voice!

Urban Psalm

God, please, just tell me when the pain ends.
When my lust for fame ends
When I expend all my ends,
And become, to you, a real friend?
I know that I can’t make amends
For living a life rife with sin,
But tell me when this new life is supposed to begin?
All I see is heartache,
Disappointed daily by the lack of progress happening
As people race clear by me,
Parts of me fall off and die.
I cry and I scream.
Wondering if by purify,
This anguish is what you mean.
There seems to be a disconnect,
Where does your favor intersect?
I’m starving for a change,
Wondering what shame is coming next!
Can’t provide a life for fam,
Feeling like I’m on the lam,
And even my reflection in the mirror is a sham.

But hold up,
Something within me feels a new day dawning.
Awaken my soul, get up!
No yawning!
You tell me, ” Free yourself from the chains that’ve been harming
I took the keys, broke the curse
Saved the universe!
I took your curse and made it blessed.
Dude, you can’t forget!
I started this work in you,
And I ain’t close to finished yet!
Dust yourself off, don’t quit, keep climbing
Keep fighting, and I’ll keep reminding.
You are the son of Mine, it’s time to start your rising…
And when you see My finished work,
Prayer is the key, but faith moves the lock to’ open’.
I know you’re broken, but you can’t stop hoping.
This life is hard, but dude, you’re still chosen.
Spring is coming, a new season with nothing frozen.”

It’s hard to fathom that You’ve planned my life from day one. .
And I accept Your Son,
And He will be my only one.
Lord, keep me focused on the prize You’ve set before me.
And I’ll adore Thee,
And place Your will before me.

Breaking New Ground

“Do You Use Your Authority?”

God has given us authority.

Eph 6:10-13- Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh and blood enemies, but against evil rulers…..therefore put on every piece of
God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.

Sometimes we deal in situations where we arent wrestling against people, but against evil spirits. Not everytime, but there are times when this happens.

-We must choose to be on God’s side.

1. There are no free agents in God’s army.

Josh 5:13-14- Joshua asked the Angel of God if He was for them or against them. The Angel said “neither”..

God was asked a multiple choice question in this verse as to whose side He was on. God answered neither because He refused to affiliate with any human side. He was saying that HE WAS the side.

2. There is no neutrality. Matt 12:30- anyone who isn’t with Me is against me.

Rev 3:15-16- because you are neither hot nor cold, I will spew you from My mouth.

3. There is no duality- you can’t play both sides.

John 10:10- satan comes to kill, steal, and destroy. JESUS comes to give us an abundant life.

Col 2:13-15- we weee dead,l in sin, then God made us alive in Christ. ….in this way, He disarmed the spiritual rulers and authority. He shamed them publicly by His victory on the cross.

Matt 16:17-18- Upon this rock, I will be build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.

So why is satan stealing from us? Because we allow it. When we get tired enough of it, then we will take a stand. How do we walk in authority?

-Submit to God’s authority.

JAMES 4:6-8 – resist the devil and he will flee.

-Recieve God’s grace.

Rev 12:10-11- they overcame by the blood of the Lamb, and the word of their testimony.

-Put Your faith in God’s power

John 16:23- whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.

Breaking New Ground

“Have you been released”

Ex 18:13-16- Moses handling disputes for all the people. Jethro asks him why he does this. Moses says that he is trying to inform the people of God’s decrees and instructions.

In these scriptures, Moses was playing a role put on him by the people, so much so that he began to believe that was his role as well.

1. Be released from others
Mark 10:46-52- Jesus and Bartimaeus.

Bartimaeus doesn’t care what anybody thinks about him. He hears that Jesus is near and grabs the opportunity. He didn’t let what others thought about him keep him from Jesus! How many times DON’T we do what God wants us to do because of what others think or might think of us? Bartimaeus threw down his coat and ran to Jesus.

That coat was his life, so when he cast it aside, he was leaving his life behind, leaving his role behind, casting all aside to follow Jesus. He didnt know that Jesus was gonna heal him, but he cast aside everything by faith, believing that there is something better for him that Jesus has.

What is the one thing that has kept us in spiritual darkness?
Why are you holding on to it?

If Bartimaeus had not seized the opportunity, he probably would have died. We can’t let what others think of us decide who we are. Jesus has better for us.

2. We have to be released from ourselves.

Moses probably thought he was doing the will of God, but Jethro set him to the truth. His solution freed Moses up to lead the way that God wanted. Its the same with us. We put pressures on ourselves to earn Gods favor.

Romans 3:25- For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe….

Oftentimes we think we need to be a certain person for God to accept us. We don’t need to fix ourselves up before God.

Heb 12:1-2- Therefore, since we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses…. 12- take a new grip with your tu red hands amd strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.
Stop worrying about our past sins amd failures. Focus on Jesus and run toward Him. When we become released from the things that have kept us from God, we become released TO God. Then God can reveal Himself to us. Once Moses was free from the expectations of the people, God revealed Himself at Sinai in Exodus 19.

Hope you are all doing swimmingly well.  I haven’t forgotten about the blog,  but my laptop’s harddrive died. So since it’s not easy for me to type an entire blog on my phone,  I’m going to wait until I get a new pc in a couple of week- if uncle sam says the same.

You all be blessed!
